Where History Lives and Tranquility Prevails

Siemsensgaard is not merely a place to stay; it is a living testament to the merchant estates of the past and a journey through time, craftsmanship, and culinary experiences. Beneath its yellow walls lie deep historical roots stretching back to the 16th century.

If these walls could talk, they would tell stories of a vibrant city life in an era when merchant ships docked just meters from the estate, which at the time served as a significant commercial enterprise.

As early as 1687

The site functioned as a prestigious inn, providing lodging for prominent figures such as King Christian V, Admiral Niels Juel, and the Governor of Norway, Ulrik Gyldenløve. Throughout the centuries, Siemsensgaard has successfully adapted to new eras, and it was the homeowner Johan Siemsen who gave the estate its current name in the 19th century.

Quality and Presence

When you step into Siemsensgaard today, you are stepping into a living narrative. In the 1930s, the estate was converted into a hotel, and in 1971, Tenna and Wil Ibsen took over the property.

They initiated an extensive and loving renovation that, combined with its charm and unique location, quickly made Siemsensgaard a favorite destination for both locals and visitors.

Taste of Bornholm

At Siemsens Gaard, the kitchen grows naturally from the house’s history, shaped by the seasons, Bornholm’s produce, and a belief in honest flavours and solid craftsmanship.

More than a hotel, Siemsens Gaard is a living house for celebrations, gatherings, and everyday life in Svaneke — where hospitality, food, history, and community are closely intertwined.

Welcome!
